Want to change your PSN ID? Here’s how you’ll be able to

For years, Playstation users have wanted the ability to change their Playstation Network ID , but Sony has left the ability to do so locked off. Well now the name change feature is coming to Playstation’s Preview Program.

The feature will be locked off to players that have registered to test PS4 system software betas for now, and we still don’t have a date for the rest of the player base.

But if you are one of those signed up you’re first name change will be free of charge. Each change afterwards will cost 5 dollars for PS Plus members and 10 dollars for non- PS Plus players.

The biggest catch though is that the name change won’t affect every game. Only games released after April 1, 2018, and “the majority of the most-played PS4 games” released before April 1.

No news has been released on all PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games as of yet, but Sony will allow users to revert back to their old name for free if there are any issues or errors.

To make the name change, users will need to go through the Settings menu or Profile page on your PS4. Once you make the change you’ll have the ability to display your old ID along with your new one, but this choice is the single permanent one. If you choose not to display your old name as well, you can’t change your mind later.
