The end of 2018 is drawing near, but it’s been a great year for gaming. There have been amazing games releasing left and right, and we only thought it right to share what we think are the must-plays you can pick up right now.
And with the Game of the Year awards coming up quick, its good to take a look at what could end up being some of the candidates.
Detroit: Become Human – 80/100
From the makers of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls comes what is easily the deepest decision-making game to ever exist. Detroit: Become Human allows you to take control of 3 protagonists and lead them through what could be one of the most important moments in history.
Deviant androids are breaking free of their constraints and it’s up to you what kind of revolution to being. Do you fight fire with fire, or do you peacefully protest in the face of ever-growing hatred?
Detroit: Become Human has some of the most beautiful graphics and some of the best story telling in a game this year, and we highly recommend you check it out. (Read our full review)
Spider-Man – 82/100
In what is one of the best super hero games ever made, you play as Spider-Man, obviously, as he struggles to balance the responsibilities of being a hero with the responsibilities of being Peter Parker. You’ll have tons of fun swinging around a massive New York City as you fight various villains while you save the city.
The story here is also extremely well done and doesn’t pull any punched. You’ll leave this game extremely satisfied if you decide to pick it up. (Read our full review)
Forza Horizon 4 – 90/100
In what could be the best racing game ever made, you’ll cruse the European countryside in everything from the Reliant Robin to a Bugatti Chiron.
As beautiful as the cars are here, you may find yourself admiring the amazing landscape of Great Britain / Scotland. The world also evolves, changing seasons with every new real-time week.
There’s plenty to do, and plenty to see in this amazing racing game. (Read our full review)
Yakuza Kiwami 2 – 84/100
If you’re a fan of beat ‘em ups and Japan and you haven’t picked up a Yakuza game yet, you don’t know what you’re missing.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 featured one of the most detailed open worlds in gaming. You play as Kiryu, a former Japanese Yakuza member who keeps getting dragged into his dirty past.
You’ll find yourself lost in the sea of mini-games, loveable characters, and hilarious side quests while you play through one of the most memorable crime dramas. (Read our full review)
God of War – 94/100
One of the most amazing stories that has been told in gaming this year is that of God of War’s story.
You play as the same Kratos as the previous God of War games, but this time he has retreated from his chaotic old ways. The story begins with the death of Kratos’s wife, and you must fulfill her last wish; carry her ashes to the highest peak in all the realms alongside your son Atreus.
What ensues is one of the most memorable stories in gaming. Don’t worry though, theres still plenty of gruesome God of War combat along the way. (Read our full review)
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – 79
While we may have had some issues the latest updates to Black Ops 4’s monetization systems, its undeniable that the gameplay in Black Ops 4 is the best in years for Call of Duty.
Black Ops 4 offers a ton of content for its asking price. Zombies comes with 3 maps out of the box, multiplayer is the most solid it’s been since Black Ops 2, and the new Blackout Battle Royale mode is the most polished Battle Royale mode currently available.
If you’re a fan of FPS games this one may be worth a look even if you aren’t too into Call of Duty. (Read our full review)
Beat Saber – 92.5/100
Have a VR headset? Well if you haven’t downloaded Beat Saber, you’re missing out on the best VR game out there. In one of the most addicting rhythm games out there you’ll take two lightsabers and slice through blocks to the rhythm of songs.
It’s simple, but it’s addicting. You’ll probably end up playing this game until you physically can’t anymore due to your arms hurting so bad.
Get ready to burn some calories because once you finish the in-game music, it’s easy to download extra songs via mods. (Read our full review)
