That’s right Xbox Live support is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Microsoft teased the upcoming reveal of the new Xbox Live support for Switch and mobile devices via their own GDC 2019 conference schedule.
“Xbox Live is about to get MUCH bigger … Get a first look at the SDK to enable game developers to connect players between iOS, Android, and Switch in addition to Xbox and any game in the Microsoft Store on Windows PCs.”
Currently, you’re already able to sign in to Xbox Live on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices for some uses, but what’s coming is even bigger.
Xbox Live will integrate achievements, friends, clubs, and game history into Switch and mobile devices. The new support will allow you to earn Xbox achievements for games even though you are playing the game on Switch, for example.
Or as Eurogamer points out, you could be playing Fortnite mobile and browse your Xbox friends list for someone to squad up with.
The crossover is extremely ambitious, but it’s taking another huge step towards becoming what many gamers want – to play with their friends no matter the platform they’re on.
GDC begins on March 18, and ends on March 22.
