Just when we thought Nintendo was finished unveiling new consoles for this year, they’ve gone ahead and announced a new version of the base Nintendo Switch. The new version of the Switch will replace the older model in production and promises an improved battery life.

Newly produced Nintendo Switches have been upgraded from 2.5 – 4.5 hours of battery life to 4.5 – 9 hours of battery life.
For reference, Nintendo says that Breath of the Wild will be going from the current 3 hours of play-time when running off of the Switch’s battery to a much nicer 5 hours of play-time.
Nothing else about the Nintendo Switch you already know and love is changing. The price, specs, and screen resolution will all remain unchanged from the original Switch, but the new longer battery life is definitely and much welcomed upgrade from the highly criticized mediocre battery life that the Switch once had.
