Nintendo finally issues a (non) statement on the Joy-con drift issue…

Since launch, the Nintendo’s Switch’s Joy-con controllers many users have dealt with the annoyance of drift. The “Joy-con drift” causes the joystick of the controller to detect movement even when it’s not even being touched by the user.

Recently, Kotaku reached out to Nintendo about the issue that has plagued many Joy-con units for an extremely long time, and after multiple days Nintendo finally issued a statement regarding the issue.

“At Nintendo, we take great pride in creating quality products and we are continuously making improvements to them,” a representative from Nintendo told Kotaku in response questions about Joy-Con drift. “We are aware of recent reports that some Joy-Con controllers are not responding correctly. We want our consumers to have fun with Nintendo Switch, and if anything falls short of this goal we always encourage them to visit http://support.nintendo.com so we can help.”

While Nintendo did respond to Kotaku’s inquiry, they didn’t respond to Kotaku’s questioning regarding a potential fix in the future.

Nintendo also updated the front page of their support website, which not prominently displays Joy-con issue links at the top.

Sending in your controllers may give you the fix you’ve been waiting for, but Kotaku reports that many users have complained about drift on their new/fixed controllers as well.

For now, it doesn’t seem like the issue will be getting the fix it deserves from Nintendo.
