Fire Emblem Three Houses protagonist replaced under sexual assault allegations

Last week Nintendo announced the voice actor’s behind the English dub for Fire Emblem Three Houses. After finding out voice actor Chris Niosi was voicing main protagonist Byleth, many of those familiar with Niosi let their concerns be known by Nintendo.

Chris Niosi has appeared in various anime and video games over the years. With appearances in games such as Octopath Traveler and Tales of Zestria, his name is well known in the voice acting community. During his time as a voice actor though, Niosi has had multiple allegations of sexual harassment, abuse, and assault.

After accusations around Niosi resurfaced, he posted a long blog post on his Tumblr account confirming the accusations.

Before the accusations were known this widely, Nintendo had previously cast Niosi has Byleth of the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. Following the knowledge of the accusations, a new trailer for Byleth’s appearance in Fire Emblem Heroes was uploaded with credit to the voice acting going to Zach Aguilar.

After being reached out to by Game Informer, Nintendo confirmed that Byleth will be replaced within Fire Emblem Three Houses via a future update.

“After assessing the situation, we decided to re-record the character’s voiceovers in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Heroes with another actor. The new voiceovers will be included in a future patch.”
